No need to look like you wearing a costume, follow these style tips to wear vintage successfully.
1. Start Small
If you haven’t worn vintage clothes before, I wouldn’t advise you to dive right in and wear a complete vintage outfit. Start off with wearing vintage accessories, for example jewellery, bags, scarves, hats or belts.
2. Pick garments that look similar to current trends:
I paired this vintage yellow jersey with a trendy floral dress, to avoid my outfit being outdated; the bold colour of the dress brings life into this outfit.
3. Pair with modern accessories
Modernize a vintage garment by pairing with contemporary accessories, opt for picking a colour that is already present in your garment, to create balance.
4. Wearing a vintage garment as the focal piece.
If you want to wear a statement piece, for example a bohemian dress, keep your accessories basic and allow the dress to be the main focus.
